Job Description
Job Title:
Phlebotomist II The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. Responsibilities Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. Decontaminate and update patient information as necessary. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature. Follow specific procedures to maintain the integrity of specimens during transport. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to provide information. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma orGED. 2-4
years of relevant experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in blood specimen storage. Work Environment The work environment is a fast-paced lab or hospital setting where you will be required to perform blood draws, labeling, and specimen storage with attention to detail and compliance with safety regulations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Santa Rosa, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
