Job Title:
Phlebotomist Job Description The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshoot issues, and make workflow recommendations. The phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures, as well as explaining the venipuncture process to patients in a clear and courteous manner. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. Decontaminate equipment and update patient information. Collect and store specimens, including blood, urine, and fecal samples, following established protocols. Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physician orders accurately. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Ensure 100% accuracy in matching test requisitions or computer labels against scripts. Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper temperature storage and labeling. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results as needed. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma orGED. 2-4
years of experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently. Comfortable answering phones and relaying lab results. Reliable and consistent. Willingness to learn and be trained. Work Environment You will gain hands-on clinical experience in a professional lab environment, with exposure to high-volume lab operations. There is potential for long-term opportunities and growth in a collaborative and dynamic setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Walnut Creek, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
