Full Job Description Job Title:
Outpatient Laboratory Coordinator (FLOAT)
PRIMARY FUNCTION
This full-time floating phlebotomist position is responsible for drawing and preparing blood specimens in clinic environments for transport to the laboratory. The schedule will generally be 32-40 hours per week, with shifts typically eight hours in length but subject to variation in order to meet patient care needs. Regular travel to and from Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Castle Rock, and Elizabeth is required . Complies with department and organization-wide policies, Critical Access Hospital requirements, Safety and Infection Control, and all Federal and State of Colorado regulations related to the performance of Keefe Memorial Hospital operations and requirements of the compliance program while providing coverage across multiple clinic locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year experience in healthcare and/or laboratory services
  • 1 year experience providing customer service in a medical setting
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding preferred
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to and from Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Castle Rock, and Elizabeth to provide clinic coverage Certificates, Licensure, Registrations
  • Phlebotomy certification required
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel between assigned clinic locations required
SIGNIFICANT DUTIES
  • Draws and prepares blood specimens for transport to the laboratory at assigned clinic locations.
  • Draws and prepare blood specimens for transport to laboratory.
  • Submits online test orders and/or complete paper requisitions.
  • Communicates with site staff to ensure collection of complete and accurate information, such as diagnosis codes, insurance information, etc.
  • Data entry of patient demographics and insurance information into laboratory portal.
  • Organize incoming test results.
  • Provides a basic description of the Outpatient Program to patients, including a brief explanation of billing options.
  • Provides customer service to providers and patients.
  • Facilitates communication between providers, laboratory, Regional Account Manager, and other appropriate parties. Communicates effectively by sharing and receiving information from multiple sources.
  • Travels to and from Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Castle Rock, and Elizabeth to provide floating phlebotomy coverage based on staffing and patient care needs.
  • Maintains flexibility and readiness to work in multiple clinic environments, adapting to varying workflows while ensuring consistent patient care and specimen handling standards.
  • Abides by all applicable laboratory department policies and procedures.
  • Provides a high level of professionalism and customer focused behavior required of the coordinator as they are the visible representatives of the laboratory.
  • Knowledgeable in the performance of procedures and use of pertinent equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations.

Pay:
$24.27 - $32.94 per hour
