Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join a well-established clinical setting that values patient-centered care. Responsibilities:
Perform blood draws and specimen collection from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other approved techniques, following all safety and protocol guidelines. Prepare and process clinical specimens accurately for laboratory testing, maintaining proper documentation. Greet patients upon arrival with professionalism and empathy, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence. Assist with patient check-in processes using self-service kiosks or handheld tablets, providing clear instructions and support. Maintain a clean and organized testing environment, including the waiting area and phlebotomy stations. Support team members by assisting with breaks and coverage in the lobby and draw area as needed. Adhere to confidentiality standards and ensure the secure handling of patient information. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, addressing patient questions and concerns with care and professionalism. Follow established procedures for specimen labeling, documentation, and transportation. Maintain accurate records of all performed procedures and activities, contributing to quality assurance and compliance efforts. Contribute positively to the clinic's environment by demonstrating organizational commitment and professionalism.
Required Skills:
Proven experience in patient-facing customer service, with at least 1-2 years of retail, healthcare, or similar client service experience. Certified in phlebotomy with hands-on experience drawing blood samples, ideally with a background in clinical or forensic specimen collection. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle patients with care, compassion, and professionalism. Excellent keyboard and data entry skills for accurate recordkeeping and specimen documentation. Ability to work confidently both in a clinical draw room and front lobby setting. Knowledge of safety protocols related to blood draws, specimen handling, and infection control standards. Ability to follow detailed procedures accurately and efficiently. Nice to
Have Skills:
Prior experience working in a hospital, clinic, or similar healthcare environment. Familiarity with self-service check-in kiosks and handheld tablets for patient registration. Additional certifications such as CPR or healthcare-related licenses are a plus but not mandatory.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience as a phlebotomist, medical assistant, or clinical medical assistant is highly desirable. Experience working in busy customer service settings, retail, or home health care that involved direct patient interaction.
Other Requirements:
Reliable transportation to and from the worksite, as public transit or rideshare services may not be sufficient. Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, or evenings as scheduled. Punctuality and full shift availability are critical; excessive absenteeism or tardiness will not be tolerated. Candidates must live within a 20-25 minute commute to ensure reliable attendance. Physical ability to perform blood collection procedures that may require standing, bending, and handling medical equipment. Certification in phlebotomy or equivalent credentials are preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training may be provided for qualified candidates.
