Laboratory Services Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join a leading medical center committed to delivering exceptional patient care. As a vital member of the healthcare team, you'll be responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples and ensuring specimen integrity for accurate lab analysis. Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures to ensure safety and accuracy. Prepare specimens for laboratory testing while maintaining proper labeling and documentation. Create a trusting and professional environment by explaining procedures clearly to patients, addressing concerns with empathy and respect. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in compliance with healthcare facility standards. Keep accurate records of specimen collection, processing, and patient interactions in electronic and manual systems. Follow all protocols related to specimen handling, storage, and transportation. Assist in maintaining compliance with infection control policies and confidentiality regulations. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure efficient workflow and superior patient service. Demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to process excellence and continuous improvement.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 12 months of professional phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting. Strong hands-on blood collection skills, including pediatric and geriatric draws. Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to put patients at ease. Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry to accurately document specimen and patient information. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a team-oriented approach. Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality. Flexibility to work during scheduled hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed. Reliable transportation to the work site (personal vehicle preferred). Have Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training background. Phlebotomy certification (required in certain states; preferred elsewhere). Experience working in retail, customer service, or other service-oriented environments. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and data management systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience totaling at least 2 years in phlebotomy, with demonstrated strong customer service skills. Experience working with diverse patient populations, including pediatric and elderly patients.
Other Requirements:
Valid phlebotomy certification as required by state law (California, Nevada, Washington). Must reside within a 20-25 minute commute to the worksite. Availability to work Tuesday through Saturday from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Must be punctual and dependable, with a commitment to maintaining an impeccable attendance record. Ability to handle physical demands such as standing for extended periods and performing blood draws safely and accurately. Candidates must possess their own reliable transportation to ensure punctuality.
