SUMMARY OF DUTIES
SunCoast Blood Centers is seeking an experienced, senior‑level phlebotomist with supervisory experience to serve as a Fixed Site Crew Chief . This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for providing day‑to‑day operational oversight at a fixed donor center while actively supporting blood collection and donor care. The Fixed Site Crew Chief is a working leader who coordinates staff activities, ensures compliance with SOPs, and maintains the highest standards of donor safety, comfort, and service excellence. This position plays a critical role in supporting our life‑saving mission and leading teams by example.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities Serve as the on‑site working lead for donor services staff during assigned shifts Coordinate daily staffing assignments and workflow to ensure adequate coverage and efficiency Provide real‑time guidance, coaching, and support to phlebotomy and donor services staff Actively perform phlebotomy and donor collection duties as needed Monitor donor flow and adjust staffing and tasks to maintain productivity and donor satisfaction Reinforce adherence to SunCoast Blood Centers SOPs, safety standards, and donor care expectations Support achievement of collection goals, including concurrent product collections using apheresis devices Direct staff during downtime to complete approved operational tasks, including outbound donor calls Identify and escalate donor concerns, operational issues, safety risks, or equipment concerns to management Foster a professional, respectful, and donor‑focused team environment Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with FDA, AABB, and organizational requirements What We're Looking For Experience & Background Minimum of two (2) years of experience in phlebotomy, donor services, or healthcare operations required Supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred (minimum six months or equivalent advanced donor services experience) Proven ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced clinical environment Education & Certifications High school diploma or equivalent required Phlebotomy certification preferred Valid Florida Driver's License with an insurable driving record Skills & Abilities Strong working knowledge of blood collection procedures and donor center operations Ability to lead, coach, and motivate staff while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor Excellent communication, judgment, and problem‑solving skills Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain workflow efficiency Basic computer skills, including electronic documentation systems Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds Manual dexterity for phlebotomy and computer documentation Work performed in a clinical donor center environment Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens; appropriate PPE required
