Overview:
As a Lab Phlebotomist, you will serve as the frontline ambassador of patient care at a reputable clinical setting. Responsibilities:
Draw high-quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures. Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing, ensuring chain-of-custody and proper documentation. Explain the blood collection process to patients clearly, creating a comfortable and trusting environment. Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and professional appearance of the phlebotomy area in compliance with healthcare regulations. Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination or accidents. Accurately complete all required records, logs, and data entry related to specimen collection and processing. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, representing the facility professionally to patients, visitors, and staff. Assist in other clinical support duties as needed under the supervision of the healthcare team.
Required Skills:
Proven proficiency in venipuncture and skin puncture techniques, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and comfort. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain procedures and provide compassionate care. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure specimen accuracy and proper record keeping. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in keyboard and data entry to document collection processes efficiently. Reliable transportation to ensure punctuality and full shift coverage. Nice to
Have Skills:
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent understanding of both languages, to serve diverse patient populations. Prior customer service experience in retail or service industries, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills. Experience working in a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional medical training such as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant certification preferred, especially in states where certification is mandatory. Minimum of 6 months of direct phlebotomy experience required; over one year is highly advantageous.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed. Must operate within a 20-25 minute commute of the worksite to ensure punctuality and consistent attendance. Ability to perform standard physical activities involved in specimen collection, including standing, bending, and fine motor skills. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and adhere to infection control protocols.
