Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures and safety protocols Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and handling for accuracy and compliance Explain procedures to patients clearly and compassionately, creating a comfortable environment and building trust Maintain meticulous records of collected specimens and related data in accordance with confidentiality standards Follow standard operating procedures for specimen collection, transportation, and storage Demonstrate professionalism and uphold a positive, welcoming attitude in interactions with patients, staff, and visitors Assist with other clinical duties as directed by supervisors, supporting overall workflow and process efficiency Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols at all times
Required Skills:
Excellent phlebotomy skills with the ability to draw blood accurately and safely from pediatric and geriatric patients Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for specimen handling and documentation Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment Exceptional customer service and communication skills to put patients at ease Proficiency with keyboard/data entry to accurately record patient and specimen information Physical dexterity to perform blood draws and handle specimens; must be able to stand for extended periods Valid phlebotomy certification (required in certain states) and relevant medical training preferred Prior clinical experience (minimum 6 months) and familiarity with universal precautions and safety procedures Nice to
Have Skills:
Certified Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related healthcare training Experience working in retail or service environments demonstrating strong interpersonal skills Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems and specimen tracking software
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required Medical training such as a medical assistant or paramedic background preferred Minimum of 6 months of direct phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred Certification in phlebotomy (especially in states like California, Nevada, Washington) highly desirable
Other Requirements:
