Job Description

Position Summary ValensMD is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and highly organized Medical Assistant to join our growing Metabolic Health Program . This individual will play a key role in supporting patients enrolled in weight management, metabolic health, preventive care, longevity, and wellness programs. The ideal candidate will serve not only as a Medical Assistant but also as a Patient Navigator and Health Coach , helping patients stay engaged, compliant, and motivated throughout their health journey. The Medical Assistant will work closely with providers to ensure excellent patient outcomes through education, follow-up, accountability, and coordination of care. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Duties Room patients and obtain vital signs, height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, and blood pressure. Perform body composition measurements and assist with InBody testing. Review and update medical histories, medications, allergies, and supplements. Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during visits. Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Ensure all clinical documentation is completed accurately and timely. Metabolic Program Coordination Assist with patient enrollment and onboarding into the metabolic program. Coordinate laboratory testing and ensure patients receive proper fasting instructions. Monitor completion of ordered labs and diagnostic testing. Track patient progress, weight changes, body composition, and key health metrics. Schedule follow-up appointments and ensure continuity of care. Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) Management Apply, activate, and educate patients on CGM devices such as Abbott Libre, Dexcom, and Stelo. Troubleshoot basic CGM issues. Download and prepare CGM reports for provider review. Educate patients on glucose trends and program compliance as directed by providers. Medication & Treatment Support Assist with medication refill requests and prior authorizations. Educate patients regarding medication instructions as directed by providers. Coordinate care for patients receiving weight-loss medications and metabolic treatments. Qualifications Phlebotomy/Medical Assistant Certifications Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience. Excellent phlebotomy skills with the ability to perform venipuncture efficiently and confidently. Experience drawing blood on patients with difficult veins, elderly patients, and high-volume clinical settings. Knowledge of proper specimen collection, labeling, handling, and laboratory protocols. Ability to ensure patient comfort and minimize anxiety during blood draws. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational and follow-up abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Bilingual English/Spanish required. Preferred Skills Experience with Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM). Experience with weight management or metabolic health programs. Knowledge of diabetes prevention and lifestyle medicine. Strong patient coaching and motivational skills. Comfortable discussing nutrition, exercise, and healthy lifestyle habits.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour
