Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring comfort, safety, and accuracy. Prepare specimen samples for laboratory testing following established protocols. Explain procedures to patients, fostering a trusting and professional environment. Maintain precise records of specimen collection and processing to ensure lab compliance and traceability. Follow all safety protocols, infection control practices, and confidentiality requirements. Demonstrate leadership behaviors by contributing to a positive team environment and process improvements. Support daily operational activities, including labeling, documentation, and specimen handling. Assist with other clinical tasks as assigned under supervision.
Required Skills:
Proven phlebotomy skills with at least 6 months of experience in a clinical setting. Ability to perform venipuncture and capillary collections accurately across diverse patient populations. Strong customer service skills, with the ability to calm and educate patients. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient keyboard and data entry skills to manage lab documentation efficiently. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Reliable transportation to ensure timely arrival and departure from the worksite. Nice to
Have Skills:
Previous experience working in retail or service industries with a focus on customer interactions. Certification in phlebotomy (required in some states), or actively pursuing certification. Medical assistant or paramedic training. Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality best practices.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical training such as medical assistant, paramedic, or similar preferred. Over 6 months of direct phlebotomy experience preferred. Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood collection highly desirable. Data entry experience, demonstrating accuracy and efficiency.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime. Candidates must list their home city and commute time within 20-25 minutes of the worksite on their resume. Must possess own reliable transportation; rideshare or public transit is not considered dependable. Ability to stay punctual, dependable, and committed to assigned shifts. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform blood draws, and handle specimen processing. CPR certification is a plus but not mandatory. Must pass background checks and drug screenings as part of the onboarding process.
