Job Title:
Phlebotomist II Job Description The main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role involves the collection and storage of specimens in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and conduct decontamination. Update patient information as necessary. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts 100%. Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them. Follow procedures specific to protocol to maintain the integrity of the specimen during transport. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department training sessions. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma orGED. 2-4
years of relevant experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in medical laboratory settings. Strong skills in blood draw and venipuncture. Expertise in specimen collection. Work Environment This position is based in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting, where adherence to safety protocols and procedures is essential. The role may require standing for extended periods and handling biological specimens. The dress code aligns with healthcare industry standards to ensure safety and hygiene. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Panama City, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
