Overview:
Are you a compassionate, detail-oriented professional with a background in customer service and phlebotomy? In this role, you'll be the welcoming face for patients, ensuring their experience is comfortable and efficient from check-in to specimen collection. This position offers a unique chance to develop your phlebotomy expertise while providing top-notch patient support in a respectful and professional environment.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients upon arrival with warmth and professionalism, answering questions and providing guidance on what to expect during their visit. Assist with patient check-in using self-service kiosks or handheld tablets, ensuring a smooth arrival process. Support collection of blood and other clinical specimens following established protocols, maintaining accuracy and safety. Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the patient lobby and draw room, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. Cover breaks for fellow phlebotomists, assisting with patient interactions in both lobby and specimen collection areas. Maintain accurate documentation and records in compliance with healthcare standards and confidentiality requirements. Demonstrate excellent customer service and organizational skills, fostering trust and confidence with patients and staff. Adhere to safety protocols and promote a professional, positive environment at all times. Participates in ongoing learning to grow within the company, expanding phlebotomy skills and clinical knowledge.
Required Skills:
Proven experience in customer service, ideally 1-2 years in retail, healthcare, or similar client-facing roles. Basic proficiency with data entry, keyboarding, or electronic record systems. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle patients with care, compassion, and professionalism. Ability to perform phlebotomy and specimen processing confidently following established protocols. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Dependability and punctuality, with a commitment to adhering to scheduled shifts and arriving on time. Physical ability to work in both lobby and clinical settings, standing for extended periods as required. Nice to
Have Skills:
Previous phlebotomy certification or training. Experience with kiosk or tablet-based check-in systems. Familiarity with forensic and clinical specimen handling. Bilingual skills to assist a diverse patient population.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-2 years of customer service experience in retail, healthcare, or related fields. Some prior phlebotomy experience is highly valued.
Other Requirements:
Reliable transportation to ensure timely arrival and departure—personal vehicle preferred due to schedule flexibility and commute considerations. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if required. Must be punctual and dependable; excessive absenteeism or tardiness will be grounds for dismissal. Ability to lift and handle specimens, as well as stand for long periods during specimen collection. Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times.
