Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients with precision and care, ensuring accurate laboratory testing and diagnosis. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and anatomy, combined with excellent patient service skills. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care by facilitating efficient specimen collection and processing in a clinical or hospital setting. Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using proper aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and specimen integrity. Collect, label, and process specimens accurately according to laboratory protocols. Obtain vital signs and assess patient condition prior to specimen collection. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to infection control standards. Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, address concerns, and provide compassionate care. Document all procedures meticulously in accordance with medical terminology standards. Assist with specimen transportation and storage to ensure timely delivery to the laboratory. Follow all laboratory procedures and safety guidelines diligently. Support the clinical team by providing accurate information regarding specimen collection processes. Maintain proficiency in laboratory techniques and stay updated on best practices in phlebotomy. Experience Prior experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital environment is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and anatomy related to blood sampling. Experience with venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing is essential. Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology, and vital signs measurement enhances performance. Previous roles involving patient service and care contribute to effective communication skills. Certification as a Phlebotomist or relevant healthcare qualification is advantageous but not mandatory; on-the-job training will be provided for qualified candidates committed to learning. Strong understanding of aseptic technique, hospital protocols, and laboratory safety standards is required.
