Job Description

Job Title:
Phlebotomist II Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to support various assigned duties, troubleshoot, provide training, and recommend workflow improvements. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment. Update patient information and collect/store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously, and demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physician orders accurately. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure 100% accuracy with test requisitions. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED with 2-4 years of experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in phlebotomy within a diagnostics laboratory. Skills in blood draw sample collection. Work Environment The work environment is a patient service center where phlebotomists perform their duties in a fast-paced and dynamic setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tallahassee, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
