Job Title:
Phlebotomist II Job Description The main function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. Record maintenance data and decontamination procedures. Update patient information as necessary. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match scripts for accuracy. Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper storage and labeling to maintain specimen integrity. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma orGED. 2-4
years of experience in phlebotomy, specimen processing, and customer service. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valrico, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
