Responsibilities:
Draw high-quality blood samples from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established safety and procedural protocols. Prepare and label laboratory specimens accurately for testing, ensuring adherence to quality standards. Engage with patients to provide compassionate, professional communication, explaining procedures and instilling confidence. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of collections and related activities, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards. Contribute to a safe and welcoming environment by adhering to safety guidelines and maintaining cleanliness in the collection area. Collaborate with clinical and laboratory teams to ensure timely processing of specimens. Demonstrate leadership behaviors focused on process excellence, accuracy, and confidentiality. Support the organization's commitment to quality service and patient satisfaction.
Required Skills:
Proven proficiency in phlebotomy with a strong track record of error-free sample collection. Excellent patient interaction skills, with the ability to create a trusting environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in data entry and keyboarding to maintain precise records. Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential; candidates must be within 20-25 minutes of the worksite. Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends, holidays, on-call hours, and overtime as needed.
Certifications:
Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington; required in these states. Nice to
Have Skills:
Experience working in retail or service environments with strong customer service skills. Medical assistant or paramedic training related to specimen collection. Additional certifications or training in clinical laboratory procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Minimum of 6 months of direct phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred. Previous experience working with pediatric and geriatric populations is highly desirable. Customer service experience that demonstrates professionalism and empathy. Data entry skills and experience in clinical or medical office environments.
Other Requirements:
Must list current home city and commute time on resume; candidates should reside within 20-25 minutes of the worksite. Reliable personal transportation is required; rideshares or public transit are not considered dependable. Must be flexible with scheduling, punctual, and committed to completing entire shifts. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism may lead to employment termination. Physical ability to perform blood draws and stand for extended periods. Certification in phlebotomy preferred in certain states; otherwise, certification is a plus.
