Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Phlebotomist to join a leading medical center committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients, values precision and confidentiality, and is eager to contribute to accurate lab testing processes. Alongside a supportive team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring specimens are collected safely, correctly, and efficiently, supporting the overall diagnostic process.
Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established protocols. Prepare specimens for laboratory testing by appropriately labeling, handling, and documenting samples. Explain procedures to patients in a respectful and compassionate manner, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence. Maintain accurate records of specimens collected, including date, time, and patient information, adhering to confidentiality standards. Follow all safety guidelines and infection control procedures to maintain a sterile and safe environment. Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure timely processing of specimens. Manage daily workload efficiently, performing multiple collections and data entry tasks with a focus on accuracy. Assist with inventory management of supplies and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Demonstrate leadership behaviors by adhering to process improvements and quality standards.
Required Skills:
Proven proficiency in phlebotomy, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patient populations. Strong understanding of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and safety protocols. Excellent communication and patient service skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and empathetically. Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling, documentation, and data entry. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Adaptability and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed. Computer literacy with experience in keyboard/data entry to manage patient and specimen records efficiently. Valid phlebotomy certification is preferred (required in certain states), with a demonstrated minimum of 6 months of hands-on phlebotomy experience. Nice to

Medical assistant or paramedic training background. Previous customer service experience in retail or service settings, emphasizing compassion and professionalism. Experience working with diverse patient populations, including pediatric and elderly patients.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic certifications is advantageous. Minimum of 6 months of direct phlebotomy experience, with 1+ years preferred.
Other Requirements:
Reliable transportation to and from the worksite within a 20-25 minute commute. Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts. Physical ability to perform blood draws and stand for extended periods. Maintaining punctuality, attendance, and full shift availability is crucial; excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
