What You'll Do:
Draw high-quality blood samples from patients across diverse age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing efficiently and accurately, following established protocols. Verify patient demographic information through proper identification procedures, ensuring specimen labels are accurate and in their presence. Explain procedures clearly and compassionately to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all collection activities, adhering to confidentiality and privacy standards. Support a safe and professional environment by following all safety guidelines, policies, and procedures. Assist in multiple locations as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to staffing requirements. Demonstrate leadership behaviors and process excellence in every task, promoting a positive patient experience and team collaboration.
Required Skills:
1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including collections from pediatric, geriatric, and adult patients. Strong proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection. Exceptional attention to detail to ensure error-free specimen collection and documentation. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures and promote patient comfort. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple priorities efficiently. Familiarity with laboratory procedures and specimen handling requirements. Solid customer service skills, with a focus on creating a positive experience for patients. Basic keyboard and data entry proficiency to update patient records accurately. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, to meet staffing needs. Nice to
Have Skills:
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training or certification. Phlebotomy certification preferred but not mandatory. Experience working in a Patient Service Center or clinical laboratory setting. Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical training background preferred. At least 5 years of phlebotomy experience highly desirable. Previous experience in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment.
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, if travel is required. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform venipuncture, and handle specimen collection equipment. Willingness to work multiple locations with short notice, including weekends, holidays, and overtime shifts. Strong commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professional standards.
