Job Description

As a Phlebotomist, you will play a key role in supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment by collecting and processing patient specimens with precision, professionalism, and exceptional customer service. In this role, you will collect blood and other specimens—including urine and additional samples—using proper techniques such as venipuncture, capillary finger sticks, and heel sticks. You will ensure patient safety and specimen integrity by following established protocols, including accurate patient identification and proper labeling of specimens in the patient's presence. You will process specimens according to laboratory standards and ensure timely and accurate handling for testing. You will also perform waived laboratory testing and support daily laboratory operations through clerical and administrative tasks such as data entry, answering phones, filing documents, and assisting with laboratory supply management. You may assist with verifying medical necessity for testing, support billing-related processes, and utilize multiple computer systems to manage laboratory workflows efficiently. Providing excellent patient care is essential in this role. You will interact with patients of all ages, adapting your approach based on individual needs and ensuring a positive experience. You will communicate effectively with patients, nursing staff, providers, and laboratory personnel while maintaining professionalism and upholding the mission and values of PACHS. This position may include a variety of settings, including outpatient, clinic, and nursing home collections, and requires flexibility to support different patient care environments. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple requests are critical for success. To be successful in this role, candidates should have strong customer service skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Previous phlebotomy experience and completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training are preferred but not required. Candidates must be comfortable working with patients, handling specimens, and using computer systems. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
