POSITION SUMMARY
Weekends Only The Phlebotomist obtains blood and other specimens from inpatients, outpatients, ED patients, extended care facility patients, physician office patients, clinic patients, and any other offsite location patients for laboratory testing according to licensed physician's or provider's orders. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture and skin punctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens and transports same to laboratory for analysis. Performs clerical and/or computer duties associated with the laboratory. Duties may vary by assigned area and/or shift.Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School/GED Other skills/knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
License/Certifications:
CPR Certification through the American Heart Association Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT)Experience:
6 months in a team orientated environment or customer service role Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program OR 3 months' full-time phlebotomy experience or equivalent.
