Job Description

Phlebotomist II
  • Wichita Job Description The role of a Phlebotomist II involves assisting in various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
You will primarily work with diabetic patients ranging in age from 16 to geriatric, ensuring excellent customer service and managing up to 35 patients per day. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate and update patient information. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight or butterfly needles. + Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. + Ensure test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct against the script. + Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperatures. + Place samples in appropriate collection containers, accurately label them, and follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Phlebotomy experience. + Minimum of 1 year of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School Diploma or GED . + Good customer service experience. Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced, typically within a lab or hospital setting. You will interact with a diverse age group of diabetic patients. Professional attire is expected, and adherence to safety and health regulations is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00
  • $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
