Diagnostic Services
  • Phlebotomist / Lab Assistant Reports to :
Clinic Administrator Primary Function :
performs routine laboratory work as directed by the physicians, laboratory supervisor and/or clinic administrator ______________________________________________________________________________
Primary Responsibilities :
1. Escorts patients to and from laboratory 2. Obtains blood and urine samples for analysis
  • is proficient with all venipuncture techniques 3. performs microanalysis of urine samples and hematological / chemistry of blood samples as directed
  • sends specific blood tests to independent laboratories according to clinic policies 4. processes cultures (urine, blood, throat and nasal swabs) according to designated times and temperatures
  • prepares the appropriate sample for in-house processing or courier pickup, and reports applicable results to physician 5. maintains laboratory equipment and tools in a sterile condition
  • trouble shoots technical and mechanical problems and always keep laboratory workspace clean 6. responsible for maintaining the adequate level of laboratory supplies and inventories on a regular basis
  • submits all orders / invoices to clinic administrator if applicable 7.
handles call pertaining to clinical, diagnostic and pre-employment physical questions or concerns 8. responsible for learning and becoming proficient with the use of electronic medical records software. This includes sending and receiving orders, chart documentation, and scanning / attaching documents 9. must have or be willing to pursue a laboratory instrumentation certificate 10. assists x-ray technician with performing, processing, and copying digital x-rays as necessary 11. performs duties as assigned
