Job Description

  • Lead Nights Monday
  • Friday 10:30 PM
  • 7 AM with Rotating Holidays and Weekends Perform venipuncture, fingersticks, and bleeding times on all patients at BIDMC.
Obtain positive patient identification and maintains vein preservation and specimen labeling procedures. Transports routine and STAT specimens to appropriate laboratories. Provides training and orders and maintains supplies. Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with internal and external clients. As part of an unprecedented organizational initiative, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is now offering up to $3,000 in sign-on bonuses for Phlebotomist positions.
Sign-On Bonus Amounts:
All Phlebotomists:
$3,000 for full-time (30+ hours, with one year of experience), $1,500 (20-29 hour w/ one year of experience) for part-time employees.
Important Details:
  • Sign on bonuses are paid out in three payments.
You will receive your first payment within the first 30 days of employment and is subject to applicable taxes. You will receive the second payment at six (6) months following your start date and is subject to applicable taxes. You will receive the third payment (remaining balance) at one (1) year following your start date and is subject to applicable taxes.
  • Full time status at BIDMC is considered for schedules greater than or equal to 30 hours per week; part time status is 20 to 29 hours per week. Please note, per diem employees are not eligible for sign on bonuses.
  • Current and Former BILH candidates
  • restrictions apply. BIDMC Internal employees or employees within the BILH system are not eligible for the bonus or if you have been employed by a BILH entity within the last 12 months.
  • Please note, sign-on bonuses are subject to change based on the organization's hiring needs and will be determined by Talent Acquisition on an ongoing basis.

Job Description:
Maintains adequate staffing levels and efficient, effective workflow and scheduling. Provides training to phlebotomists to ensure competency. Provides data input for the payroll system in the absence of Supervisor and Phlebotomy Leaders. Acts as a technical resource for all difficult Phlebotomy blood draws for the institution. Ensures rounds are completed as scheduled and provides assistance, as needed, to maintain timelines of routine and STAT blood draws. Communicates lab issues and problems to Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Manager and recommends resolution. On a daily basis, interacts and communicates with customers including patients, site office manager, physicians, and medical assistants. Shares on-call duties. Provides input for performance appraisals. Ensures 24/7 coverage for Inpatient Rounds.
Pay Range:
$24.26

Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
