Job Description
Phlebotomist - Pay $24/ hr Job Description As a Phlebotomist I, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations in a healthcare setting. Your main function will be to collect and store specimens according to established procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge samples. Record maintenance data and decontaminate work areas as needed. Update patient information accurately. Explain venipuncture or other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Interpret and follow physicians' orders accurately. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Package specimens for transport, storing samples at required temperatures. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results. Essential Skills Valid Phlebotomy certification for the applicable state. Minimum of 6 months of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED. 2+ years of relevant experience. Work Environment The position is set in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment where you will be required to follow established protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens. You will work with various technologies and equipment necessary for specimen collection and processing. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Laurel, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
