We offer comprehensive cancer and urologic care under one roof for patient convenience and support. Cancer Partners of Nebraska (CPN) is seeking a full-time phlebotomist to help carry out it's mission of providing outstanding patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepares equipment to efficiently collect blood products and maintains adequate supplies Performs venipunctures or VAD draws on patients; identifies and labels specimens Assists patients before, during and after draw; instructs on urine collection procedures Cleans/sterilizes equipment, instruments and work area following safety, cleanliness and infection control procedures Inventories supplies and places orders Maintain patient confidentiality Other projects/responsibilities as assigned periodically by direct supervisor
Education and Training:
High school diploma or equivalent Technical skills and training in phlebotomy required Certification in phlebotomy strongly preferred/highly recommended
Experience :
Minimum of one year phlebotomy experience
Knowledge:
Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques Knowledge of and appreciation for a teamwork concept, clinic policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care as it relates to the laboratory. Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and other regulatory policies
Skills:
Skill in efficient and effective draws Computer keyboarding skills Skill in customer service, communications, organization and confidentiality (HIPAA)
Abilities:
Ability to act in a professional and positive manner when interacting with patients Ability to react calmly and effectively in stressful situations Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing and on the phone in the English language Ability to establish/maintain effective, cooperative relationships with physicians, staff, patients and their families
Schedule:
Day shift Monday to Friday No nights or weekends
