Job Description:
Full Time 32 Hours a week 1:30pm-10:00pm rotating weekend and holidays
  • All lab staff are required to work holidays and weekends on a rotating basis.
Location - 1 Elliot Way Manchester NH Main Campus Lab About the Elliot Lab The Elliot Hospital Laboratory is a full-service laboratory offering both Clinical and Anatomical Pathology testing. The Clinical Laboratory operates 24 hours/day,7 days/week offering both stat and routine testing. The Anatomical Pathology department operates Monday- Friday 7 am to 4 pm. We conveniently provide services to patients and the community with 5 walk-in labs located in Manchester, Bedford, Hooksett and Londonderry. We also service 60 nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area. About the Job Elliot Health System strives to inspire wellness, heal our patients, and serve with compassion in every interaction. The Clinical Lab Assistant acts as the primary point of contact for patients, physicians, client, and other health care providers. They will perform a variety of customer service-related tasks as well as various non-technical functions in the laboratory which allows the timely flow of all specimens through the lab departments. The Clinical Lab Assistant maintains the integrity of samples from collection to receipt to storage and performs specific departmental tasks as assigned by the department supervisor. What You'll Do
  • Verify patient requisitions are complete and accurate ensuring patient name and date of birth is documented and orders are clearly marked off.
  • Accurately perform computerized clerical duties, verify and/or place orders and complete documentation of all collections.
  • Receive specimens into the laboratory verifying patient demographics and verifying specimen types.
  • Prepare specimens for processing to include operating centrifuge, aliquot specimens and labeling specimens.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation to the main laboratory when applicable.
  • Performs final disposition of specimen to storage via standard tube tracking procedures.
  • Answers incoming phone calls, provides patient testing results and/or test requirements as appropriate and refers technical questions to technical staff.
  • Responsible for answering incoming calls on multiline phones. Must be familiar with the collection process for special tests i.e., glucose tolerance, urine, and other body fluid collections.
  • Responsible for calling and documenting STAT and critical results.
  • Responsible for entering laboratory orders into EPIC that have been received via fax or phone call.
Phlebotomy:
  • Perform routine and advanced venipuncture and capillary collection using proper technique in a variety of locations and on all age groups.
  • Perform proper blood culture collection on all age groups.
  • Accurately identifies patient at time of collection and label all specimens in the presence of the patient in all settings.
Client Services:
  • Responsible for maintaining and reviewing follow up work lists.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, reviewing, and resolving issues.
  • Responsible for facilitating non routine courier pickups.
Education and Experience Needs High School diploma or equivalent required. Phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience preferred. ASCP certification preferred.
