Job:
The Clinical Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist (Travel) performs duties of Patient Registration, Central Processing and Phlebotomy. The incumbent will also perform specimen collection, receiving and distribution of specimens to the appropriate technical departments and will perform documentation of quality exceptions according to Laboratory protocol.
What You'll Do:
Collect, receive, and sort specimens. Draw blood using proper technique. Responsible for accurate patient identification. Accurately key and record patient information and laboratory orders into the information systems. Perform laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, specimen storage and retrieval. Prepare specimens for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting specimens, measuring specimens, and checking specimen integrity. Maintain competency in all phlebotomy procedures and protocols. Perform phlebotomy at nursing homes and transport specimens within their motor vehicle. Perform phlebotomy tasks in outpatients, inpatient, and the Emergency Department, and nursing homes for all age groups.
Who You Are:
High School diploma or GED required. Phlebotomy Certification preferred A minimum of one-three years of Laboratory experience preferred. Must have a valid driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance coverage is required throughout duration of appointment. A motor vehicle background report will be conducted.
