Job Title:
Phlebotomist Job Description This role focuses on providing high-quality, high-volume phlebotomy services while delivering excellent customer service to a diverse patient population. You will perform 20-30+ blood draws per day, help reduce patient wait times, and ensure accurate specimen collection, labeling, processing, and documentation in accordance with established procedures and safety regulations. Locations Hiring:
Morris county Passaic County Bergen County New York Metro Raritan, NJ Responsibilities Perform 20-30+ venipunctures per day using primarily straight needles, with butterfly needles as needed, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. Provide clear, courteous explanations of venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures, including urine and fecal collections, to help patients feel informed and comfortable. Collect, label, and store blood and other specimens according to established procedures and specific test requirements. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all information against scripts or computer labels to ensure 100% accuracy. Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order, following all protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Package specimens correctly for transport, ensuring appropriate containers, labeling, and temperature conditions are used. Store specimen samples at the required temperatures and place them in the appropriate collection containers or tubes according to protocol. Work efficiently to help reduce patient wait times and maintain a steady, organized workflow in a high-volume environment. Interact professionally and empathetically with patients, including pediatric and Spanish-speaking patients, demonstrating strong customer service skills. Fully understand and interpret physicians' orders to ensure proper specimen collection and processing. Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks in accordance with laboratory standards and safety procedures. Update patient information accurately in the appropriate systems or documentation tools. Answer telephone calls, provide laboratory results when appropriate, and respond to inquiries in a courteous and professional manner. Comply with all OSHA and DEP regulations and internal safety protocols at all times. Attend annual departmental training sessions and stay current with procedural and regulatory updates. Essential Skills 2-3 years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or laboratory setting. Proficiency in performing high-volume blood draws, including 20-30+ venipunctures per day. Strong hands-on experience using straight needles and butterfly needles for venipuncture. Demonstrated experience collecting, labeling, and storing blood and other specimens according to established procedures. Experience operating centrifuges and processing specimens, including splitting and freezing samples as required. Ability to accurately match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify information against scripts or computer labels. Knowledge of proper specimen packaging and transport procedures to maintain specimen integrity. Understanding of OSHA and DEP regulations and the ability to comply with all safety and infection control standards. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously with patients and clinical staff. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Experience working with pediatric patients and the ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience updating patient information and maintaining accurate documentation in clinical or laboratory systems. Ability to read and understand physicians' orders related to laboratory testing and specimen collection. Comfort answering telephone inquiries and communicating laboratory results in a professional manner, following applicable policies. Experience performing decontamination tasks and recording maintenance data for laboratory equipment. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. Bilingual or multilingual communication skills, especially in Spanish, are beneficial for supporting a diverse patient population. Work Environment This is an on-site role in a clinical or laboratory setting that supports a high volume of patients, including many pediatric and Hispanic patients. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with every other Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The environment is fast-paced, with a strong focus on reducing patient wait times and maintaining an efficient workflow. You will work with standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment, including straight needles, butterfly needles, specimen collection tubes, centrifuges, and temperature-controlled storage for specimens. The setting follows strict OSHA and DEP safety regulations, with established protocols for specimen handling, decontamination, and infection control. Professional clinical attire appropriate to a healthcare environment is expected.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
