As a Lab Phlebotomist, you'll be the frontline representative of a leading medical center, expertly drawing blood samples to support accurate lab testing that informs life-changing health decisions. Responsibilities:
Draw blood samples from patients, ensuring safe, accurate, and comfortable procedures. Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, verifying that all samples are correctly labeled and documented. Confirm patient identity and demographic information, including signatures post-venipuncture. Follow established protocols for specimen collection, handling, and processing to guarantee specimen integrity. Maintain detailed records of collections and related documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Provide excellent customer service by explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns with professionalism. Assist with specimen processing and transportation within the clinical environment. Uphold safety standards and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and sensitivity to patient confidentiality at all times. Flexibility to work across various locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy settings, with minimal notice.
Required Skills:
Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Proficiency in drawing blood using various techniques and needles suitable for all age groups. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to verify patient information accurately. Excellent communication skills, fostering trust and confidence with patients and team members. Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Competence in keyboard/data entry tasks related to specimen labeling and documentation. Demonstrated commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and safety standards. Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and travel between multiple locations as required. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, if applicable. Nice to
Have Skills:
Certification as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent. Medical assistant or paramedic training. Experience working in a high-volume patient service center environment. Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and data entry.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Medical training or certification is preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington where specific licensure may be mandated. At least three years of professional phlebotomy experience, with a focus on pediatric and geriatric specimen collection. Prior customer service experience in a retail or service environment is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Ability to travel to multiple clinical sites and perform engagements with minimal notice. Flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Adhere to all safety policies, dress code, and health standards. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, handle blood specimens, and perform venipuncture procedures.
