Job Title:
Phlebotomist Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist with over 2 years of recent experience to join our team in Far Rockaway. The ideal candidate will be proficient in using both straight and butterfly needles and possess strong communication skills. While bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, experience in pediatrics is prioritized. We are looking for someone who is reliable, punctual, and comfortable instructing parents and working with pediatric patients. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. Record maintenance data and ensure decontamination processes are followed. Update patient information as necessary. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store sample according to required temperature. Place samples in appropriate collection containers and accurately label them. Essential Skills 2+ years of recent phlebotomy experience. Proficiency with straight and butterfly needles. Strong communication skills. Experience in pediatrics. Ability to instruct parents and work with pediatric children. Minimum 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required. Work Environment The position is based at a Patient Service Center (PSC) in Far Rockaway. The role involves seeing 40-50 patients daily, with a high number of pediatric patients under the age of 10. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arverne, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
