Variable 8-hour shifts between 5:45 AM•6:00
PM Rotating Saturdays:
6:15 AM•12:30 PM (4.5-5.5 hours)
Position Summary:
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This is a float role supporting multiple Patient Service Centers and physician office locations throughout the region.
Position Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and specimen collection procedures on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens following established protocols. Label, centrifuge, split, freeze, and prepare specimens according to test requirements. Match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes and verify patient information for accuracy. Properly explain specimen collection procedures to patients in a professional and courteous manner. Demonstrate proficiency using straight needles and butterfly needles. Package and prepare specimens for transport while maintaining specimen integrity. Store specimens at appropriate temperatures and follow transportation protocols. Update patient information and maintain accurate documentation. Perform equipment maintenance, decontamination procedures, and quality control activities. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend required departmental trainings and meetings. Answer incoming calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries. Travel between multiple locations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Phlebotomy certification (where required by state regulations). Minimum of 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced laboratory, hospital, or patient service center environment. High School Diploma or
GED. 2-4
years of overall healthcare/phlebotomy-related experience preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between assigned locations.

Training Location:
One designated site prior to floating assignment
Training Duration:
Minimum 2 weeks (may be extended based on performance and experience)
Daily Draw Volume:
Approximately 30-40 draws per day
Work Environment:
Primarily Patient Service Centers with one Physician Office (IOP)
Patient Population:
Pediatrics through Geriatrics (all ages)
Team Structure:
Mix of team-based locations and independent work sites
Standing Requirement:
Expect to stand and move throughout most of the shift
Vaccination Requirements:
TB Screening Required Hepatitis B Titer Required If non-immune, candidate may choose vaccination or sign declination
Additional Screening:
Color Vision Screening Required
