The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and possess strong communication skills. A high school diploma or GED is required. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment. Update patient information accurately. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures. Follow specific procedures outlined by protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication skills. Reliability and punctuality. Proficient with straight needles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual skills or experience with pediatric patients is nice to have but not required. Work Environment The position is located at a new Patient Service Center opening in Brooklyn. You will be performing 30-50 blood draws per day in a two-person site. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with every other Saturday from 9am-4pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
