Job Description
Hiring a Phlebotomist! Job Description The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort is critical to our commitment to high-quality care for our patients and those of our partners. Responsibilities Conduct blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and perform decontamination procedures. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understand all physicians' orders thoroughly. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are correct against the script. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures. Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone calls to provide laboratory results. Wear appropriate attire including all required personal protective equipment. Essential Skills Phlebotomy skills with experience in blood draws. Ability to use straight and butterfly needles. Strong administrative skills and attention to detail. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with infant blood draws is a plus. 2-3 years of experience with drawing blood. Familiarity with pediatric blood draws. Work Environment The position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for in-state travel, providing a change of scenery. The work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8am-4:30pm, with every other Saturday from 9am-5pm. The role does not require working on holidays or taking vacation shifts. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newburgh, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
