Responsibilities Lead Phlebotomist - Full Time If you're an experienced phlebotomy professional ready to take on a leadership role, St. Mary's Regional Medical Center invites you to join our team. As a Lead Phlebotomist, you'll perform high‑quality specimen collection while supporting the daily operations of the Phlebotomy Department. In this leadership‑focused role, you'll mentor staff, guide workflow, and help ensure accurate, efficient, and patient‑centered service throughout the medical center. Why St. Mary's? https://www.stmarysregional.com What You'll Do As a Lead Phlebotomist, you'll play a key role in both specimen collection and departmental leadership. You'll ensure smooth operations, support staff, and help maintain high standards of accuracy and service.
Responsibilities include:
Performing phlebotomy and specimen collection using age‑appropriate techniques and devices Ensuring safe handling and proper collection methods to maintain specimen integrity and quality Following correct procedures for labeling, accessioning, and delivering specimens to the appropriate departments Responding promptly and professionally to STAT, ASAP, NOW, and outpatient collection requests Communicating effectively with departments, staff, and clinical teams, including alerting appropriate personnel regarding STAT orders Maintaining the specimen collection component of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) Performing patient registration functions for courier specimens Assisting with training and guiding phlebotomy staff, students, and new hires Serving as a resource for phlebotomists by answering questions, offering guidance, and supporting workflow Assisting with scheduling and ensuring staff have necessary materials and supplies What We Offer St. Mary's provides a supportive environment where laboratory professionals can grow, lead, and make a meaningful impact.
