Phlebotomists here support a broad range of inpatient units and outpatient areas, giving you steady exposure to varied patient populations and clinical needs. In this role, you will perform routine and STAT blood collections and related specimen collection procedures. A typical shift includes reviewing orders in the EMR and laboratory systems, organizing timed and priority draws, and traveling to patient care units to complete collections. You will verify patient identity using required identifiers, clearly explain procedures, and work to put patients at ease during blood draws. Daily responsibilities include venipuncture and capillary collections, accurate bedside labeling, and timely specimen delivery to the laboratory while maintaining specimen integrity. You will follow established protocols for tube selection, order of draw, mixing, transport, and infection prevention, with careful attention to safety for both patients and staff. Phlebotomists in this hospital may cover medical-surgical floors, intensive care units, emergency services, specialty clinics, and procedural areas. This variety keeps the workday engaging and builds familiarity with different clinical teams and workflows.
