Job Description

Job Title:
Phlebotomist Job Description The primary role of a Phlebotomist is to assist with various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations within the lab environment. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate work areas and update patient information as needed. + Collect and store specimens following established procedures. + Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collections, such as urine or fecal, to patients. + Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. + Understand and follow all physicians' orders accurately. + Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required. + Verify test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure accuracy. + Package specimens for transport and store samples at the required temperature. + Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to address questions. Essential Skills + Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood drawing techniques. + Strong customer service skills. + Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. + Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. + Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with pediatric and adult blood drawing. + Ability to see and handle all age groups. + High School Diploma or GED. Work Environment The role requires working in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. Employees must adhere to health and safety regulations, including OSHA and DEP standards, and maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with patients. Proper attire is required to maintain a clean and safe working environment. #ACTjobsLC26 Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Chester, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
