Division/Program Summary:

The Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) mission is to promote a healthy community by providing New Yorkers with the resources needed to make informed and empowered health decisions; identify and treat tuberculosis and provide immunization and sexual health services regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. BPHC provides direct clinic services to people seeking health care; monitors disease trends; provides education and training to service providers and community groups; conduct research; and develops policies and programs to deliver high quality clinical care which best serve New Yorkers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform and report quality Control testing on a weekly basis in the blood room for rapid (INSTI) HIV in accordance with the policy and procedures (SOPM). 2. Perform and report quality Control testing on a weekly basis for all reagents in the blood room for rapid (INSTI) HIV in accordance with the policy and procedures (SOPM). 3. Monitor temperature for refrigerators and GC incubator. 4. Inform patients of the purpose and type of testing; ensuring specimens are obtained in a courteous and professional manner. 5. Ensure specimens are stored safely and preserved in a designated area in accordance with the Bureau's policy and procedures. 6. LABORATORY ASSOCIATE

• 21512 Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or its equivalent and: 1.

One year of appropriate full-time experience or training in a biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory; or 2. Eight credits, including laboratory coursework, in biology, chemistry, or medical technology, from an accredited college or university; or 3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of (1) and (2) above. However all candidates must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Preferred Skills Applicant MUST have filed for the recent Lab Associate CS Exam (provide proof of examination and score) and/or currently serving as a permanent Lab Associate. 55a Program This position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
