We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our dynamic team.Position Summary:
The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, personable, and able to perform high volume blood draws efficiently and safely while maintaining a high level of patient care.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients of all ages
- Accurately label and process specimens for transport to the laboratory
- Maintain patient records and documentation according to facility policies
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during specimen collection
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
- Manage specimen inventory and supplies
- Communicate effectively with patients, clinical staff, and laboratory personnel
- Collects specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required. Reduces patient anxiety by providing a calm environment for patients before, during and after the collection process.
- Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, or policies. Disposes of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
- Completes requisitions accurately.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a certified Phlebotomy training program
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
