Draw high-quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established protocols. Prepare and label specimens accurately, verifying patient information through direct identification in accordance with safety procedures. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all specimens and patient interactions. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns to ensure a positive experience. Assist with specimen processing and handling, including verifying specimen integrity and specimen accessioning. Support a team-focused culture by demonstrating leadership behaviors and process excellence. Adapt to varied work environments, including patient service centers, clinical offices, or in-office settings, as needed. Maintain reliable transportation and flexible scheduling including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime to meet staffing demands.Required Skills:
1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, with proficiency in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Certification in phlebotomy preferred; active certification is highly desirable. Excellent venipuncture skills, with a demonstrated ability to perform accurately and efficiently in high-volume settings. Strong attention to detail and the ability to verify patient identities and specimen labeling meticulously. Superior customer service skills with an ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced environment. Keyboard and data entry proficiency for accurate documentation. Knowledge of safety protocols, HIPAA regulations, and confidentiality standards. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record preferred if travel is required. Nice toHave Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training. Experience working in a healthcare customer service environment, especially within retail or outpatient clinics. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and laboratory information systems.Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical training or certification (e.g., CMA, Medical Assistant) is advantageous. Prior experience in a clinical laboratory or patient service environment preferred.Other Requirements:
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate clinic hours and staffing needs.
