Job Description
Phlebotomist Technician I (Entry-Level) - Fixed Site We Are Blood | North Lamar, South Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Kyle No experience necessary — we train the right people. At We Are Blood, our mission is to provide and protect the community blood supply and inspire Central Texans to save lives locally. When you join our team, you play a direct role in ensuring patients across our 10-county area have access to life-saving blood when they need it most. We are currently hiring a Phlebotomist Technician I to join our Fixed Site team . What You'll Do Determine donor eligibility Learn and perform phlebotomy techniques Monitor and manage donor reactions Provide a safe, positive experience for donors at our donor centers Schedule & Availability Full-time (40 hours/week)
Locations:
North Lamar, South Austin, Round Rock, or Cedar Park Must be available to work any day of the week (Monday-Sunday) between 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Schedule will include some evenings and at least one weekend day Schedules are assigned based on business needs What We're Looking For No prior experience required — paid training provided Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Reliability and flexibility with scheduling Growth Opportunity Start as a Phlebotomist Technician I with the opportunity to grow into Tech II, Tech III, and beyond. Report to work according to department schedule and comply with organizational timekeeping policy. Maintain the donation site and equipment according toSOP:
Assembly, daily quality control procedures, routine/preventative maintenance, housekeeping procedures and disassembly. Process and accurately document allogeneic whole blood donations according toSOP:
registration, medical history interviews and vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, hematocrit, and temperature), phlebotomy. Respond to donor reactions according toSOP:
Identify/treat symptoms, monitor/perform vital signs (pulse and blood pressure) and accurately document the reaction. Execute special projects and other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Operations Manager. Ability to regularly work scheduled shifts at any of our locations and mobile sites as determined by business needs is requiredRequirements:
High school graduate or equivalent Compassionate interpersonal skills Experience in phlebotomy and/or taking vital signs is preferred; certification as a phlebotomist, medical assistant, EMT, paramedic or LVN is a plus Ability to interpret and respond appropriately to sensitive/confidential information and situations Ability to maintain focus and make sound judgments in a busy/distracting environment Ability to perform the same task repeatedly while maintaining a high level of accuracy Ability to read/follow SOPs and to maintain complete/accurate records Ability to work well in a team environment. Ability to work a full time flexible schedule including Saturday and/or Sunday Good manual dexterity Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted Ability to stand for long periods.
