What You'll Do:
Skillfully draw blood specimens from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring comfort and safety. Prepare and process specimens for lab testing, adhering strictly to established protocols and standards. Verify patient demographics and ensure proper labeling of samples, maintaining accuracy and integrity of all specimens collected. Provide excellent customer service by explaining procedures to patients, building trust and confidence during each encounter. Maintain detailed records and documentation, ensuring compliance with all policies, security, and confidentiality requirements. Support a clean, safe, and professional environment, demonstrating leadership behaviors and process excellence in daily tasks. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to operational needs across multiple locations, including patient service centers and outpatient settings. Exercise sound judgment to make decisions based on established procedures, especially in high-volume settings. Demonstrate flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, with reliable transportation and a valid driver's license if travel is required.
Required Skills:
Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. Proven ability to draw high-quality, error-free specimens in a fast-paced environment. Strong understanding of venipuncture techniques, with proficiency in pediatric and geriatric blood draws. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically. Capable of multitasking and prioritizing in high-volume, dynamic settings. Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a team-oriented approach. Proficient in keyboarding and data entry skills necessary for accurate record keeping. Nice to
Have Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training. Certification in phlebotomy (preferred but not mandatory). Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment. Familiarity with medical data management systems and healthcare software. Bilingual abilities to serve diverse patient populations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical training such as a Medical Assistant or Paramedic background is advantageous. At least three years of direct phlebotomy experience, with specific expertise in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collection. Previous experience working in a clinical or outpatient setting, preferably in a patient service environment.
Other Requirements:
Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required if travel between locations is involved. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime to meet operational needs. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to specimen collection. Adherence to all safety, confidentiality, and infection control policies. Willingness to undergo training at different locations based on staffing needs. Maintain certifications and licensure as required in applicable states (California, Nevada, Washington).
