Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Phlebotomist to join a respected healthcare team on a temporary, ongoing basis. This vital role involves collecting blood and urine specimens, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation, and providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities:
Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of blood and urine specimens, maintaining strict compliance with departmental protocols. Perform venipuncture to draw blood specimens using proper techniques to ensure patient safety and sample integrity. Observe and collect urine samples following required procedures, including observed and supervised collections. Accurately identify patients prior to specimen collection, following all safety and privacy guidelines. Properly label, document, and prepare specimens for shipment according to regulatory standards. Interact with patients, physicians, and clinic staff with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality. Follow Universal Precautions and OSHA standards when handling specimens, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Communicate effectively with team members regarding shift updates, unusual issues, or procedural deviations. Maintain a clean, organized work environment and manage supplies efficiently.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 6 months of venipuncture experience with proven proficiency. Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage with diverse patient populations. Dependable with a solid work ethic and punctuality. Excellent communication skills—clear, concise, and confident in interactions. Proficient in using multiple computer programs, managing emails, and entering data swiftly and accurately. Knowledge of specimen handling procedures and safety standards. Nice to
Have Skills:
Experience with urine drug screen collections and observed specimen protocols. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar software.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification as a phlebotomy technician (CPHT or similar) is highly desirable. Prior experience in clinical or diagnostic laboratory settings.
Other Requirements:
Schedule:
Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm, approximately 15 hours weekly. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform various physical activities (bending, reaching, kneeling). Reliable transportation to the worksite located in Granbury, TX. Must maintain neat, clean work areas and observe all safety and confidentiality standards.
