Responsibilities:
Perform blood draws using venipuncture and finger-stick techniques according to established protocols. Ensure accurate patient and specimen identification. Collect other lab specimens (e.g., throat culture, urine culture) as needed. Provide clerical support, including interviewing patients, entering data into the computerized database, and maintaining records. Process specimens and handle data entry according to established procedures. Obtain, review, and distribute lab reports to clinical staff as required. Comply with all safety, infection control, and HIPAA protocols. Provide outstanding customer service to all laboratory users. Accommodate any late end-of-day patients. Must be willing to float between the live oak locations (Pat Booker, Universal City, etc...) Must be willing to be cross-trained
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a phlebotomy training program or certification. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Familiarity with lab techniques and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interactions. Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and pay attention to detail. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Preferred Skills:
Hospital experience is a plus but not required. Proficiency in venipuncture techniques. Knowledge of clinical laboratory operations and equipment. Ability to record vital signs and patient information accurately.
