Job Description
Phlebotomist Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM-6:00 PM | Friday 7:30 AM-4:30 PM Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and reliable Phlebotomist to join our team in a fast‑paced, independent medical office setting. The primary responsibility of this role is to perform high‑quality venipunctures and specimen collections while maintaining excellent patient care standards. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, handling a high daily draw volume, and making workflow recommendations when appropriate. Key Responsibilities Perform venipuncture and specimen collection on adult and geriatric patients (approximately 30-35 blood draws per day ). Properly explain blood draw and specimen collection procedures (blood, urine, fecal, etc.) to patients in a clear and courteous manner. Demonstrate proficiency using straight needles and butterfly needles. Collect, label, centrifuge, split, store, freeze, and transport specimens according to established protocols and test requirements. Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes and verify accuracy against physician scripts and computer labels (100% accuracy required). Package specimens for transport, ensuring proper storage temperatures and specimen integrity. Record maintenance data, perform decontamination procedures, and update patient information as needed. Follow all laboratory, safety, and compliance standards. Troubleshoot issues as they arise and provide workflow improvement recommendations. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced laboratory or hospital setting. High School Diploma or GED required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite . Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Work Environment In‑office phlebotomy role within a large medical office . Independent site setting. Standing for the majority of the shift. One (1) hour lunch break provided. Patients Adult and geriatric population. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Sugar Land, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
