Phlebotomy Lead

Primary Purpose :

The Phlebotomy Lead provides a supportive link between the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, ARUP clients, other healthcare providers, and all areas of the Company. Provides service by resolving problems, miscommunications, test ordering assistance, and specimen collection. Monitors workflow and assures that the responsibilities of the department are correctly completed in a timely and efficient manner. Projects a professional image through telephone communication and excellent interpersonal skills. If the candidate is not a Certified Phlebotomy Technician, the candidate must be eligible to take the certification examination at the time of application and must pass the examination within six (6) months from job offer acceptance.

Physical and Other Requirements :

Stooping:

Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.

Reaching:

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Mobility:

The person in this position needs to move between work sites and inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Effective communication skills.

PPE:

Biohazard laboratory environment that requires use of personal protective equipment in accordance with CDC and OSHA regulations and company/departmental policies.

ARUP Policies and Procedures:

Sedentary Work:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Fine Motor Control:

Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Vision:

Having close, far, and peripheral visual acuity to perform a variety of tasks such as make general observations of depth and distance.

Color Vision:

Perception of and ability to distinguish colors. High School Diploma or Equivalent or better. Associates Degree or better in Phlebotomy or related field.
