In this vital role, you will perform blood collection procedures, ensuring accurate specimen sampling and processing to support diagnostic testing and patient care. Your enthusiasm for patient service, combined with your technical skills, will contribute to a positive healthcare experience. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your laboratory techniques and gain valuable hospital experience in a dynamic medical environment. Duties Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques while maintaining patient comfort and safety Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing, ensuring proper handling and documentation Follow strict aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection and processing Obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration when required for patient assessment Assist with patient care activities, providing compassionate support and clear communication throughout procedures Maintain detailed records of specimen collection, processing steps, and patient information in accordance with hospital protocols Support laboratory staff by adhering to established procedures for specimen transport, storage, and disposal Qualifications Prior laboratory experience or clinical laboratory training is preferred; however, entry-level candidates with relevant coursework or certification are encouraged to apply Knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and medical terminology essential for accurate specimen handling Experience with venipuncture, blood sampling, and phlebotomy techniques required; certification in phlebotomy is a plus Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and the importance of specimen integrity in diagnostic testing Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with hospital procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic technique necessary for safe operations Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
