Full-Time Summary:
Once-in-a-career opportunity to care for a fit, highly motivated population of tactical athletes in a pioneering Health Center caring exclusively for firefighters, law enforcement officers, and paramedics. Advance your practice in a comprehensive outpatient setting emphasizing quality, innovation, and above-standard care. About Emergency Responders Health Center (ERHC): Established in 2004, ERHC is regarded as the provider of choice for 30+ Idaho fire, police, EMS, and military agencies, and cares for a patient panel of 8,000 responders and their family members. Our practice model addresses the elevated health risks experienced by first responders, with an emphasis on disease prevention, aggressive health screenings, comprehensive annual exams, and nutrition and wellness counseling, as well as safe and rapid return to duty, post-injury or illness. ERHC is a welcoming, patient-centered, and independently owned outpatient health center offering "360 degrees" of care•from preventative health and wellness, occupational medicine, primary and urgent care, rehabilitation/physical therapy and workers' compensation case management, to mental health services and workforce wellness consultation. Our Physical Therapy team practices in our custom-designed, in-house physical therapy studio, facilitating seamless collaboration with our medical providers (including dual-certified family/sports medicine physicians). ERHC Physical Therapists are supported by skilled medical receptionists and in-house radiology technologists; our Center houses an imaging suite to include digital X-ray and a new ultrasound machine. ERHC is based in scenic Boise, Idaho, a rapidly growing mid-sized city offering a thriving downtown and nightlife scene; an active arts, cultural, and sporting community; and a wide range of all-season recreational opportunities within minutes. We are seeking an experienced and versatile team player to join our practice as a Physical Therapist, to collaborate with a growing, well-integrated team (including MDs, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, a licensed acupuncturist, mental health counselors, and massage therapists). This provider will deliver sports medicine-based injury prevention and rehabilitation services for a population of tactical athletes (first responders) and their family members. ERHC providers thrive in a dynamic environment•learning quickly, adapting to change, and maintaining a high level of flexibility while ensuring an above-best-practice healthcare experience for our highly valued patients. The ideal candidate will be able to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic, and highly patient-centered environment, and will be responsible for: Assessing new patients to determine musculoskeletal conditions, functional capabilities, limitations/restrictions, potential for rehabilitation, and appropriate active-duty clearance status, relative to specific job function as well as workers' compensation protocol. Establishing an evidence-based treatment program, with specific goals responsive to each individual patient's capacity and tolerance, under the direction of an ERHC physician or nurse practitioner. Educating patients and engaged family members regarding the plan of care. Effectively educating, motivating, and supporting patients during the physical therapy process. Timely charting in the Health Center EMR (eClinicalWorks). Additionally, this new team member will have the opportunity to support the development of a proprietary, duty-specific Injury Risk and Fitness Assessment (FIRA) program, for implementation by emergency response agencies across Idaho and other ERHC service regions. Required Skills:
1. Minimum of 3 years practicing Physical Therapy in an outpatient clinic setting (4 to 5 years preferred). 2. Valid Physical Therapy license in the State of Idaho, or eligibility to obtain licensure immediately upon hire. 3. Proactive, positive, and highly patient-centered approach to care. 4. Commitment to safely and rapidly returning patients experiencing workers' compensation-covered injuries back to full-time, or modified, employment status, as clinically advised. 5. Willing to undergo mentorship and independent study toward understanding of first responder occupational health standards (i.e., familiarity with NFPA 1582, OSHA, and Peace Officers Standards and Training-POST, etc.), injury risks, and culture. 6. Ability to build patient relationships, demonstrate exceptional patient service skills, and maintain clinical excellence and professionalism. 7. Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary clinical and administrative team, to provide superior care as well as fostering a warm and welcoming workplace environment. 8. Demonstrated proficiency in clinic-based EMR applications, with the ability to complete treatment notes within 24•48 business hours of all encounters; experience using eClinicalWorks preferred, but not required. 9. Desire to act as a knowledge resource for the practice of Physical Therapy and related clinical expertise. 10. Strong attention to detail, and ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both orally and in writing. 11. Ability to focus and multi-task in a multi-faceted environment, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency. 12. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality, adhering to the Privacy Practices for Protected Health Information. 13. Ability to adhere to scheduled hours and comply with all Health Center policies and procedures. Inclusive Hiring Practices:
