Month Contract Position Overview:
The School Physical Therapist provides assessment, treatment, and consultation services for students with physical disabilities that impact their ability to access the educational environment. This role focuses on developing students' functional mobility, posture, strength, coordination, and safety skills, while collaborating with educators, families, and related service providers to support participation in the least restrictive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess students' physical abilities and functional needs in school settings. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized therapy plans in alignment with IEP goals. Provide direct therapy services, both individually and in small groups, to improve mobility, strength, coordination, and independence. Recommend adaptive equipment, orthotics, mobility devices, and modifications to support student access to the classroom. Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other related service providers to integrate therapy goals into daily routines and activities. Educate staff and families on strategies to support student physical needs. Document services, progress, and compliance with state and federal regulations. Participate in IEP meetings, team conferences, and professional development.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of Kansas Knowledge of pediatric physical therapy practices and school-based interventions Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
Preferred:
Experience in school-based physical therapy Familiarity with adaptive equipment and assistive technology for students Training in pediatric neuromuscular, orthopedic, or developmental disorders
Work Environment:
School settings including classrooms, therapy gyms, and playgrounds Regular collaboration with students, staff, and families May involve lifting, positioning, or assisting students with mobility needs
Pay:
From $49,500.00 per year
