Aug 31, 2026 Job Description About the Role Northshore Education Consortium (NEC) is seeking a Physical Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team at the Kevin O'Grady School. This role involves evaluating students' physical needs, developing therapeutic interventions, and supporting the effective use of adaptive equipment in the school setting. The ideal candidate will bring compassion, clinical expertise, and a commitment to student-centered care. ________________________________________ Why This Role Matters The Kevin O'Grady School serves over 100 students with complex needs, including autism, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, and emotional or behavioral challenges. The Physical Therapist plays a crucial role in helping students access their learning environments and maximize independence by improving mobility, strength, and motor control. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate students' physical therapy needs and develop individualized goals as part of the IEP process.
  • Assess and recommend adaptive equipment and mobility aids to support student functioning.
  • Fit NEC adaptive equipment and train staff in proper and safe usage.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and classroom staff to support integrated therapy approaches.
  • Participate in wheelchair and orthotic clinics; offer professional input on orthotic interventions.
  • Document student progress and revise therapy plans as necessary.
  • Stay up to date with current research and best practices in physical therapy.
  • Participate in professional development and departmental planning meetings. ________________________________________ Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Massachusetts State License in Physical Therapy.
  • Experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
