Job Description
JOB DETAILS
This outpatient Physical Therapist position is based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, a welcoming community known for its historic charm, revitalized downtown and easy access to both small-town comfort and nearby urban amenities. Rocky Mount offers a vibrant mix of local restaurants, coffee shops and craft breweries, along with live music, community events and family-friendly attractions. Residents enjoy parks, greenways and nearby rivers and lakes that support an active, outdoor lifestyle. The area's reasonable cost of living, convenient access to Raleigh and the Research Triangle, and strong sense of community make it an appealing place to build both a career and a home. You will be joining a busy outpatient physical therapy clinic that is part of a large, nationally recognized rehabilitation network, known for its commitment to quality care and clinical excellence. The clinic features modern treatment spaces, updated equipment and a collaborative, team-based environment designed to support both patient outcomes and therapist growth. As part of a broader organization, there is access to clinical resources, best-practice protocols and opportunities to learn from experienced colleagues across multiple specialties. The typical caseload includes a wide range of outpatient orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions such as post-surgical rehabilitation, sports injuries, spine and neck pain, shoulder and knee conditions, balance issues and functional mobility limitations. Patients are primarily adult and geriatric, with opportunities to work with adolescent and athletic populations depending on clinic needs and your interests. The environment emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient education and individualized care plans tailored to functional goals. Daily responsibilities include performing comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, developing and progressing plans of care, providing manual therapy and therapeutic exercise, and educating patients on home exercise programs and injury prevention. You will collaborate closely with referring physicians and other healthcare providers, provide clear and timely documentation in the clinic's electronic medical record system, and monitor patient progress using appropriate outcome measures. Therapists are encouraged to participate in case discussions, in-services and ongoing clinical education offered within the network. Patient volume and scheduling are structured to balance productivity with quality of care. A typical day includes a steady schedule of evaluations and follow-up treatments, with patient appointments generally spaced to allow for focused one-on-one care and appropriate documentation time. Patient demographics reflect the surrounding community, offering a broad, engaging mix of diagnoses and functional goals that support clinical growth and skill development. Schedules generally follow traditional outpatient clinic hours on weekdays, with potential for some variation depending on clinic demand and patient preferences. The clinic culture supports teamwork, open communication and mutual respect among therapists, therapy assistants, support staff and leadership. New team members can expect a supportive onboarding process with access to experienced colleagues and resources. This role is particularly well suited for physical therapists who value working in a high-quality outpatient environment, appreciate the advantages of a strong national rehabilitation network and want to enjoy the lifestyle benefits of living in Rocky Mount. The position offers the opportunity to refine core orthopedic and sports rehabilitation skills, pursue areas of clinical interest and contribute to the health and mobility of a diverse patient community.
